Key events in the history of the Auto Parts Business:
| 1987 |
- Pick-n-Pull Auto Dismantlers is founded in Stockton, CA and begins growing into a chain of self-service auto parts stores providing recycled auto parts for end-of-life vehicles.

| 1989 |
- Schnitzer Steel enters into a venture with Pick-n-Pull, providing an additional source of scrap metal for its Metals Recycling Business facilities.
|
| 2003 |
- Schnitzer purchases its partners’ interest in the Pick-n-Pull joint venture. Pick-n-Pull becomes a wholly owned subsidiary and the first member of Schnitzer’s Auto Parts Business.

| 2004 |
- Pick-n-Pull goes international, purchasing three stores in Canada – two in Alberta and one in British Columbia.

| 2005 |
- Pick-n-Pull acquires four stores in Missouri (2), Ohio and Virginia.
- Schnitzer expands its Auto Parts Business by acquiring GreenLeaf Auto Recyclers and its 22 full-service locations.

| 2006 |
- Four GreenLeaf stores are converted into Pick-n-Pull stores and one GreenLeaf store becomes a combination GreenLeaf / Pick-n-Pull store, bringing the total number of Pick-n-Pull locations to 35.

| 2008 |
- Pick-n-Pull acquires two stores in Arkansas and one in Texas, all operating under the name "U Pull It". This brings the total number of self-service locations to 38.

| 2009 |
- Pick-n-Pull acquires two additional stores in California and four in Oregon. Two California stores are also merged into one. This brings the total number of self-service locations to 43.
- Schnitzer Steel sells its GreenLeaf Auto Recyclers full-service auto parts business.

| 2010 |
- Pick-n-Pull acquires two stores in Texas, bringing the total number of locations to 45.
